C. Sturdi-Wall Drill-Set Anchor
Sturdi-Wall Brackets are drill-set models that come in 6 sizes. There are also two Universal models that can fit any size post, or may be placed on one side of a post to make room for a corner or doorway. They may be anchored atop a concrete slab of almost any thickness, as well as on a masonry wall, a poured stem wall or a basement wall.
For most posts you will want to use these drill-set brackets that fit 4x6 (SW46), 5x5 (SW55), 6x6 treated (SW66) or 6x6 rough-hewn (SW64) solid-sawn posts; or 3-ply 2x6 (SW63), 4-ply 2x6 (SW64), 3-ply 2x8 (SW83) or 4-ply 2x8 (SW84) unplaned laminated columns:
For posts that are a different size, you can use two SW60 or SW80 universal brackets to fit pretty much anything:
For corners and doorways, you may want to use two SW60 or SW80 universal brackets so they don't stick out of the corner or into the doorway, either like this:
...or if using columns less than 5" wide, put one SW60 or SW80 under the column and notch space for the concrete anchor head and/or bracket like this:
If working with a doorway or other post that does not need the shear strength of two SW60's, you may use one SW60 like this - but note that these offer less than half the shear strength compared to two SW60's or the other SW brackets:
