Hey Finishes 6th in B Modified Final 2012 Race
10/23/2012 15:08Tuesday, October 23, 2012, Baldwin City KS – Bryan Hey of Hey Machinery in Baldwin City provided a rousing comeback from 15th starting position to finish sixth in his final race September 30 on the dirt track at Heartland Park in Topeka.
Hey finished the season 13th overall, with ups and downs along the way. Hey was unable to participate in four of the races, which lowered his overall season points and final rank.
“We won a few and on some others we didn’t do as well” says Hey. “On July 7 we were having a pretty good run that night until almost at the end of the race got sandwiched between two cars. That put us out for the rest of the race, but fortunately the damage wasn’t too bad and we were able to enter again the next week.”
A video of the July 7 race shot from the in car camera of one of the cars involved in the collision is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08IbjGE_ROo&feature=youtu.be.
“We finished first in four of the heats races this year, so we had some pretty good runs,” Hey said. “We had fun and we're looking forward to racing again next Spring.”
Modified cars are a hybrid of open wheel cars and stock cars. This class of car has the racing characteristics of a stock with the rear wheels covered by fenders and the front wheels open. There are sanctioning bodies that control the rules for this class at most tracks, including where Hey participates at the Briggs Speedway at Heartland Park in Topeka.
Hey was sponsored Napa of Baldwin City, Rice Precision Manufacturing, May-Way Farms, Wasson Sea Minerals, Crazy Moe's Treasure Hunt, Hey Machinery Company Inc., AdvoCare Howard & Jenny Newcomb, K lawn & Landscape, Higher Standards Painting, Edge Chassis by Most, Kaotic Wraps and Heartland Perma-Column.
